African violets need abundant light to produce flowers. Grow them in bright light, but not in direct sunlight.

Fertilize monthly with a liquid or soluble plant food during the summer or when plants are growing.
How much: Add enough water so that some drains out of the bottom of the pot.
How often: Water plants when the soil just under the surface is moist but not wet. For additional information on watering houseplants, see Watering Container Plants.
Average house temperatures are adequate, but do not leave African violets in rooms where the temperature falls below 50°F at night.
Avoid getting cold water on the leaves when watering, and don't let the plant sit in drainage water. Do not expose plants to cold drafts.
